Like my first series, my second featured Southeast Asian flora. I continued working in oil but changed my support to linen canvas. Perhaps it was the frequent visits to the Botanic Gardens while I was growing up. Perhaps it was my parents' subscription to the Audubon Magazine that enabled my plant, flower and tree scrapbooking. Perhaps it was being a child of the 70's in Singapore when the Clean and Green campaign was launched and the Garden City vision was already in full swing. Perhaps it was an innate knowledge that human life depends on plant life. Whatever the reason/s, my affinity for flora began in my childhood and became my subject matter from which I drew inspiration for my first and second series of paintings.
